Frequently asked questions

  • In practical practice, executive functioning encompasses the self-management skills essential for achieving goals. To navigate the growing demands of life, individuals must effectively manage their emotions and attention, organize and plan their tasks, and adapt their strategies as circumstances change. My goal is to empower individuals by teaching skills that extend beyond immediate challenges. When working together, we will utilize your real-life situations from school or work as opportunities to cultivate these executive functioning skills.

  • As a coach, I focus on developing the skills necessary for independence and effectiveness. We will work together to use your current challenges—such as completing work, preparing for exams, certifications, or presentations, logging project hours, and balancing academic or professional demands with your social life—as a foundation for teaching how to tackle future obstacles. Coaching is based on a gradual release model of responsibility, starting with significant support and gradually shifting toward helping clients acquire the tools and strategies they need to work independently. As clients experience success, they gain confidence, become more willing to put in effort, and enhance their ability to operate autonomously. Beyond school- and work-specific skills, this coaching framework fosters broader competencies like time management, organization, sustained attention, and self-awareness, contributing to success in various life areas.

  • I support adults, students, and parents facing challenges managing their work and lives. Sometimes this is due to stress and general unmanageability, sometimes this is due to ADHD, executive function deficits, or other learning differences. Many of these individuals feel frustrated and discouraged, especially when their struggles are misunderstood as laziness. My clients are gifted and engaged, but need support learning executive functioning tools and strategies to succeed fully. I offer the encouragement, strategies, and insights necessary to help them become more effective and confident in their lives. When I work with families, parents experience peace of mind as household tensions decrease, leading to greater independence and less need for constant reminders.

  • It's a journey of transformation that takes time. Clients explore new perspectives on themselves and uncover their intrinsic motivations. This isn't just about building skills, it's about empowering individuals to take charge of their life's journey. The duration of coaching varies depending on a person's readiness for change and the breadth of their needs. Progress is influenced by factors such as the individual's motivation, self-awareness, the specificity of their goals, and the duration of their challenges. For instance, a highly motivated yet disorganized individual might only need a short time to learn, practice, and assimilate a new approach to managing their daily life. On the other hand, someone who experiences frequent frustration, has attention issues, and struggles with time management may need more extensive time to acquire the needed skills and to apply them independently. My goal is to support clients in attaining confidence, competence, and independence as swiftly as possible, and my approach is built on that commitment.

  • Environmental consultation and planning occur in the work or home environment needing an overhaul. Coaching sessions are held via Zoom. In my experience, online coaching offers greater flexibility in scheduling, and clients can participate in coaching from the comfort and safety of their homes or offices. Most importantly, research shows that online coaching effectively improves Executive Function skills.
